Lockington Volunteer Fire Department 2010 Offroad Challenge
| |
The Lockington Volunteer Fire Department serves Washington and Orange Townships as well as the Village of Lockington in Shelby County and Washington Township in Miami County. All the firefighters are volunteers serving the community from our one station. One third of our annual operating budget and 100 percent of our capitol improvement savings for fire trucks comes from fundraisers like the Offroad Challenge. LVFD responds on about 70 calls per year protecting 4100 residents over 56 square miles, in addition to the numerous calls for mutual aid assistance throughout Shelby and Miami Counties. |

A Little About Lockington, Ohio by Wikipedia®
Lockington (originally founded as Locksport) is a village in Washington Township, Shelby County, Ohio, United States, along the Loramie Creek. The population was 208 at the 2000 census.
Located along the old Miami and Erie Canal, Lockington gets its name because it was the site of several canal locks. It sat at the junction of the main canal with a feeder coming from Port Jefferson and Sidney. The original locks are still partially intact and may be visited during daylight hours across the street from the fire department in the village.
